You may remember that last year, goals from Nathan Dyer, Jamie White and Matt Paterson were not enough to get the job done as the Spitfires managed to pinch a 3-3 draw. Though looking at the Saints side, which was mainly made up of fringe players and youth, it became more understandable as to why Southampton didn't spank Eastleigh all over the pitch.
This year however could be a goal feast. Mark Wotte has confirmed he will be playing two eleven man sides in each half, comprising of first team and fringe players. Much needed, given no training happened earlier in the week. Don't expect all the well known Saints stars to be in action though, Joseph Mills and Kayne McLaggon are both out with injury's whilst out of contract players Bradley Wright-Phillips and Jason Euell are out of the action due to insurance purposes.
Don't expect new trialist Thompson to be involved either, he is not applicable for any friendly matches and although Wotte is keen to get Stern John back up to speed, it is unlikely we'll see him feature tomorrow.
The match is free for under-12's with further discounts for students and OAP's (it's sometimes good to be old) but for those slaving the wage £10.00 is the price tag for admission. We're currently uncertain whether we'll be able to bring live text coverage of the match, it certainly was our intentions but we've yet to hear back from the club management on whether anything can be set up for us to coverage the game in real time. We'll certainly keep you posted either way.
