Saints back up strikers Brett Ormerod and Peter Crouch grabbed two a piece, while Jason Dodd and Graeme Le Saux scored from set pieces. Daivd Prutton adn Marian Pahars completed the rout.
One disapointment of the game was the removal of Matt Oakley after only four minutes. Matt missed much of last season through a cruciate ligament injury and was sorely missed from the Saints side. Oakley's current injury involves the are where a graft was taken from to help his ligament injury and is not considered to be a serious problem.
Peter Crouch told the official site: "It was nice to get under way with a couple of goals.It may have been one of those games where I think we were a little bit better than the opposition but it was nice to get a run out and get a couple as well."
