Burley in discussions to bring in striker on loan

In the post match press conference when I asked if he was looking to strengthen the squad with a loan striker Burley revealed that "we have spoken to a couple of clubs about bringing someone in."

Clearly a striker is the priority, although he did not rule out bringing in a midfielder with Belmadi out for several months. Understandably, he refused to give any hints as to the players we are looking at, but it's clear that Burley is seeking a proven striker from the Premiership.

As for who is a matter of speculation, although certainly West Ham and Middlesborough have a glut of strikers with Malcolm Christie, Massimo Maccarone and Carlton Cole possible targets.

Burley also repeated his slight regret at letting Ricardo Fuller go after his lively performance for Stoke repeating that his Premiership wages were the biggest factor, but after today's display of shooting prowess maybe it was not such a bad thing after all.
