Liverpool, Fulham, Manchester City and Southampton were in the running for Mido, although the Saints remain favourites. Manchester City still want him on loan for a season, whereas Southampton are keen on a permanent move.
Mido would be able to provide an attacking option on the left side of Saints midfield and it's well known that Paul Sturrock is looking for a new player for that position.
Mido's agent Christophe Henrotay said: "It's now up to Mido to decide. Some of the clubs we've been speaking with are away on pre-season tours and he needs to talk with the managers. Hopefully it will be sorted this week."
