Dodd has been with the club since March 1989, when he signed form Bath City, and this latest deal is a just reward for his services. Jason said: "I am really pleased to have got it sorted because it gives me a bit of security and means I can focus totally on the football and play my natural game rather than trying to earn a new deal.
"I have spent my whole career with Southampton and I love the club but there is no room for sentiment in football and being a long-time servant would not count for anything if I was not good enough.
"It is not just about football but the plc too and if the manager and chairman did not think I could last two years then they would not have given me a contract."
"Things are looking good for the club right now and I am delighted to stay a part of it.
"We have a superb new stadium and a decent squad which has finished 10th and 11th in the last two seasons.
"The manager is looking to strengthen too and the increased competition for places can only be good for us as we aim to push on from here."
Rupert Lowe added: "I am delighted that Jason has signed for an extra year. He has been one of the mainstays of the squad and he is fiercely committed to the cause. He is an influential figure on and off the park and a good character to have around."
