Fry hopeful Southampton deal can be struck

Over the last four hours we have heard from Tony Lynam and Matt Le Tissier regarding their disappointment of the fallout of the proposed takeover. Now we hear directly from Mark Fry acting administrator. Although on the surface hard to see, Fry reassures Saints fans of some optimism.

"We remain hopeful that a sale of the football club will be completed within a very short period of time," read the statement from administrators on Southampton's official website.

"We appreciate that the sale may appear to have been protracted but it is a complex transaction which involves numerous stakeholders and a satisfactory solution for all parties is not simple to achieve.

"It is positive news that the football club should be in a position to pay the wages this week and once again we reiterate our thanks to the staff and players for their continued support.

"As we have made very clear we are working to a very short timeframe, but wish to reassure everybody with an interest in Southampton that we are working round the clock to ensure the survival of the club."

As every hour goes by increasing ill feeling towards Pinnacle and the football league seems to be the general feeling around Southampton at the moment. One being, how exactly the exclusivity time window was used (or wasted) and secondly how iron walled the football league's stance is on punishing Southampton and further punishing them for late wages, it is rumoured the FA wanted to impose a further points penalty due to late payment of players and staff wages.

News also broke early this morning that Southampton could be left with noone to coach the side this week, with many staff contracts finishing on July 1st. As they say things always come in three's.
