Keeper Goes Under the Knife

The Finnish international stopper, who will now miss his countries midweek international friendly tournament in Cyprus, picked up the injury during the 2-1 defeat at St Andrew's and was forced to sit out Sunday's 2-2 home draw against Everton.

"The keeper complained of knee pain after the midweek defeat at Birmingham and a scan showed a small tear," a statement on the clubs official website revealed.

Niemi is expected to be sidelined for at least a fortnight with the injury.
