The Daily Mail have today reported that Steve Wigley's tenure as head coach of Southampton now has a deadline set for its conclusion - but this time, not by chairman Rupert Lowe.
The Premier League have reportedly rejected Southampton's appeal over Steve Wigley's eligibility to remain as head coach, forcing the 42-year old to either complete a year long course in the next two months - or be replaced as head coach or manager of the club.
Though the story was reported on Radio 5 on Wednesday evening, the only sign of the major news outlets picking it up this morning is on the pages of the Daily Mail - so hope remains for Wigley and Lowe that the tale was less a leak from the Premier League, and more a way of filling column inches.
Whether or not any external deadline set by the Premier League is more generous than the deadline given to Wigley by Rupert Lowe, however, is also yet to be seen.
