However, Brentford boss Wally Downes has confirmed that he is to put it to his board of directors to reject the offer for the keeper who recently had a trial spell at St. Mary's.
"I've had no communication with Gordon Strachan, but we have received an offer from Southampton which I am obliged to take to the board," Bees boss Wally Downes told the Evening Standard.
"In my view it is nowhere near the estimation that we have put on the player and my recommendation would be that it is insufficient."
