Saints Bury Norwich in the Cup

While the coffers would have benefited from an away trip to a Premiership giant, the draw represents an excellent opportunity for Saints to progress into the Cup. Norwich and Bury will of course have other ideas, but a home draw against opposition in the same league or below is a good draw.

With the inconsistencies in our league form making a run to the play-offs something of a tall order, a Cup run would provide a welcome boost as well as a chance to raise our profile to potential investors.

However, with this draw a TV appearance or even decent slot on Match of the Day (second to last with less than 60 seconds of coverage was a throwback to our Premiership days!) will no doubt have to wait.

The ties will be played on the 26th and 27th January.
