With our current run of form, it is easy to forget the woeful October that we experienced as goal shy Saints only hit the target 3 times in 4 games that month and were 20th out of 24 in the form league, with a solitary win and three losses.
What a difference November made with Saints banging in the goals with a league best 12 goals making us 3rd in the form table, behind the impressive 100% records of Preston and Stoke. December has started equally well with the 4-2 win over Hull and a very winnable looking fixture against the bottom club Southend.
However, given our October form we should guard against complacency in playing Man Utd's Carling Cup conquerors who boast sharp shooting Freddie Eastwood who despite Southend's poor results has notched 10 goals this season, including 4 in the cups.
In stark contrast to last season, our record against the top half of the table makes encouraging reading with Saints second only to Birmingham, an important quality when we reach the sharp end of the season.
Our form against the bottom sides is much worse with Saints 17th, indicative of our inability early in the season to break sides down who set out their stall to defend against us. Let's hope Saints can improve that stat come Saturday.
