Lucketti adds to the wealth of loans in our back line, making up potentially four out of back five with Richard Wright, Chris Perry, Vignal and now Lucketti.
He is not available for the crucial away trip to Cardiff with his wife recovering from an operation and also the final home game to his club Sheffield United. It's a concern as decent defenses take time to create and if he does well we would be losing an important component of the defence for what looks to be a vital game.
Lucketti is certainly experienced at 36 having spent the majority of his career in the lower leagues finally making it to the Premiership, albeit briefly with Sheffield United last year. We have to hope that his fitness holds out in a position where Saints have had terrible luck with injuries.
It is not yet clear whether Pearson sees him as cover or as a starter. If all remain fit then Pearson will have to decide on his back five. There is a possibility that Thomas could move to right back leaving Perry and Lucketti in the centre and the much improved Vignal on the left.
If indeed they do stay fit then it looks increasingly likely that Powell will have played his last game for the club after another season of injuries and with his contract running out. Either way Pearson has a big job on his hands to get the new look defence organised ahead of a series of vital games that will decide our fate.
With the loan window now closed, that's it for Saints' squad. It would have been good to see us sign a midfielder and/or striker from the Premiership, but now it's down to Pearson to work with what he has and keep us up.
