Despite the turmoil, Wotte has been busy what with the announcement late last night that dutch league striker Ode Thompson is in training with the Saints, it is now confirmed that Stern John is back in training with the club as well. The 32 year old scored a brace in a cup game against Rotherham last year in spectacular fashion. John also was Saints top scorer in the 2007 season.
"Stern is back with us and we have given him the opportunity to train with the first team," Wotte said. "We have spoken about his future and he has said he is enjoying being back on the training ground.
"He needs to work on his fitness a little and knows that he would have to settle for a lot less if we were in a position to offer him any sort of contract in League One.
"That is not something that we are able to do until any takeover has been agreed, but we are doing what we can to make sure we are as prepared as possible.
"We are hoping to be able to play him in some of the friendlies coming up and we will see how things work out over the next couple of weeks."
We're expecting much news today, though The Southern Daily Rag (sorry Echo) are keeping details kept over an apparant dramatic twist in the pinnacle consortium takeover plans for print only, at least for the time being.
