Southampton manager Nigel Adkins stressed his side had to build on their momentum after climbing into the top six for the first time this season with a comfortable 4-0 home win over Dagenham & Redbridge. Saints' star performer was teenage winger Alex Chamberlain, who celebrated his call-up to the England Under-18s squad with both his side's first two goals, while he also made another for Jose Fonte after Lee Barnard had scored a third. Adkins said: "We have the momentum now and it's important that we keep building on that. "I have an honest hard-working group of professionals who want to be successful. We've played well, but we want more. "We have high hopes for young Alex Chamberlain, but we have to control the high hopes and expectations everyone has for him. "Like all youngsters he's going to have highs and lows, but we think he's a player with a lot of potential who'll be going places."
