We have been linked to Celtic's John Hartson. Hartson played well against Blackburn during this week but has been unable to command a regular spot with the Scottish champions. The simple truth is, we don't need him. We have Beattie, Ormerod, Pahars and Delgado, all of whom are just as good, if not better. Then we have Tessem, Davies and McDonald waiting in the wings. I don't see this one happening, even though Hartson has some Coventry links.
On their way elsewhere are Alan Blayney, who has gone on a month long loan to Stockport. Scott McDonald is still in Huddersfield's plans with Mick Wadsworth keeping an eye on him. Wadsworth said: ''Scott did quite well for us though we would have liked a few more goals from him.
''He has gone back to Southampton but there is a chance he could be returning at some stage. It is hard to say.''
Also wanting some first team action elsewhere is Garry Monk. Monk has been on the fringes for a few seasons and it's looking more and more likely that his future lies elsewhere. Monk said: "It is okay playing in these (reserve) games but there is nothing really at stake and I really need first-team football and hopefully I can go out on loan and get a few matches under my belt.
"I would love to stay here because it is a terrific club and a great set-up but I have got to start playing.''
Jet setting Terry Cooper has been in Argentina and is apparently looking at Rosario Central striker Luciano Figueroa, Boca Juniors goalkeeper Roberto Abbondanzieri and also Colon's striker, Cesar Carignano.
