Rumour Mill - Mido, Carrick, Nilsson

Saints are still in negotiations to bring Mikael here for the start of next season, rather than wait until Dec 1st. Saints could really do with some bolstering on the flanks, so hopefully something will be sorted out sooner rather than later.
Michael CarrickWest Ham£3.5 million
Carrick was one of the few star West Ham players who didn't jump ship when his side went down. However, Saints already have more central midfielders than they know what to do with at the moment. So, despite Carrick's talent, I'm not sure if he would make that big an impact on the team.
MidoMarseilleLoan
Saints have so far stayed away form getting players in on season long loan deals. The Egyptian striker could well be an excellent place to start. However, with Beattie, Crouch, Pahars, Ormerod and Phillips, do we really need someone else. I doubt it.

After some initial murmurings from fellow MLS players about Beasley's chance to play at a higher level, this rumour has gone quiet. No doubt Saints are monitoring the situation as Beasley would be a definite contender for our first team.

James BeattieNewcastle6 million

The rumour mill has now stepped up a gear on Beattie's departure, now that Saints have signed Peter Crouch. Rather than assume that Crouch has been brought in to provide his own qualities and to give Sturrock more than one centre forward option, the hacks seem convinced that Beattie's on his way for around £6 million, with Crouch as his replacement.

Beattie's agent Jon Smith said: "There's absolutely nothing happening."
