The Rumour Mill is normally a light-hearted section where we link the great and the good with a dream move to St. Mary's and tend to gloss over painful departures. However, it appears that the dream has turned to nightmare for a growing number of the squad with rumours of moves everywhere.
Theo - so quick he's halfway to London
The hottest property in English football has been linked with everyone from Accrington Stanley to Arsenal (who are they?) and even back to Saints. It looks like he is finally on his way tomorrow leaving Saints with a princely sum for a 16 year old, but a sinking feeling as the brightest light from our academy goes out.

Delap - a long stone's throw to Boro
Saints odd job man Rory Delap has been linked with a dream move to Middesborough. And they are willing to pay us £750k for the privilege. With all the talk of developing Theo's career, it has been a crime of the highest order to deny the Premiership the joy of watching Rory Delap in full flow. However, this rumoured move is largely down to his agent doing the rounds, rather than a 'tapping-up' a la Wenger and Rory may be continuing his tour of the Saints line-up for a while yet.

We haven't got Brett Ormerod
Everyone loves a trier and Brett has remained a cult figure at St. Mary's despite a woeful record in front of goal this season (although he is not alone). Just a pair of shooting boots away from being a very decent striker in this league, it just hasn't happened for him. Nearly stayed at Wigan after his loan last season, but it's the bright lights of Preston that beckon now.

Baird - now you see him, now you don't
After finally getting a run in the first team, Baird has been linked with a host of Championship clubs. There has always been interest in the Northern Ireland regular and sometime Saint, but he has loyally stuck it out for his big chance. If Halls fails to make the 'big move' to Reading and joins Saints, then Baird may make the move to one of our Championship rivals.

Not the Best we've got
Academy product Leon Best was on loan at Sheffield Wednesday earlier in the season before breaking his foot and now the Owls want him back permanently. Failed to take his big chance when offered a start alongside fellow academy striker Dexter Blackstock and a move may be the best thing for him.
