Extended player ratings: Saints 0 Coventry 0

Richard Wright - 7: Made three good saves, two in particular from Misfud were crucial to ensure we got at least a point from the game. He did look shaky coming for a cross at the start, but soon settled in. A clean sheet on debut can only boost his and the defence's confidence.

Jermaine Wright - 6:
Had a decent game at full back where he is so often asked to play. He passed the ball well, but lacks the pace to be able to get forward and support the attack. Despite receiving criticism earlier in the season he looks increasing assured in defence.

Gregory Vignal - 6: Not a great game from the left back, he was troubled by Misfud's pace in the first half and must have been relieved to see him switched from right wing at half time. He had a better second half, but his distribution wasn't the best, in part down to a lack of a wide left option.

Darren Powell - 7: One hundred times better than last week's shambles! Had an easier first half with Coventry only having one upfront, but dealt with Best throughout. Looked strong in the air and was unlucky to put over a header from a Licka corner in the first half.

Wayne Thomas - 7: He was solid at the back today, strong in the air as ever. Had a busier second half due to the switch in formation but dealt intelligently with Misfud's pace.

Mario Licka - 6: When he got into the game we saw glimpses of the kind of neat link up play he is capable of. Saw a decent effort very well saved by Kasper Schmeichel just after half time. However he was constantly drifting into the centre of midfield which meant we often lacked an option wide on the left.

Jhon Viafara 7: Battled hard as ever and looked more comfortable on the right than he did last week in the centre. Put in some decent crosses when given the opportunity, most notably at the end of the first half and with a deep cross during the second both for Stern John.

Youseff Safri - 6: Protected the back four well but overall he had little influence on the game in an attacking sense. He would benefit from having more options out wide to spread the play to.

Jason Euell - 6: Showed a good willingness to get stuck in and looks a much improved player under Pearson. Still needs to work on his short game but no lack of drive and determination. Set up the best chance of the game for Stern John with a very clever back flick from a bouncing chipped through ball.

Vincent Pericard (subbed for Bradley Wright-Phillips 70 mins) - 5: He looks some way off match sharpness or perhaps he is that slow all the time? Also needs to improve his first touch. Got into a good position for a decent effort in the first half but apart from that struggled to get much going with John in the first half. Was better in the second half, but too similar style a player to John for them to play together.

Stern John - 5: A very disappointing performance by his usually high standards. He had our best opportunities but failed to really test Kasper Schmeichel as he should have done. The two missed chances in the second half in particular could be costly come the end of the season.

Subs

Bradley Wright-Phillips (on for Pericard 70 mins) - 6: Received a mixed reception but didn't let that faze him as he set about his game. Did have the ball in the net but was adjudged to be offside. We did look more dangerous with him upfront, with his movement providing us more options as he drifted out into the left channel.
