Saints reached their first FA Cup final in 1900 but would lose 4-0 to Bury.
Saints would reclaim the Southern league title in 1900/01 before suffering another FA Cup final defeat the following season. This time it was 2-1 against Sheffield United in a replay.
Saints win the Southern league in 1902/03 and in 1903/04
A wage limit meant the return of many players to the Football League and Saints dropped from the top three in the league, although they did reach a cup semi final in 1907/08.
