Steve Wigley said: "The performances of Kevin Davies, Garry Monk and Paul Williams were all positives. You need something like what Kevin did - a little bit of magic which unlocks the door.

"It was going to take something like that or something bizarre like the cross which the boy nearly put in his own goal.

"We passed the ball well but I would have liked to see a little bit more from the younger players. You expect to see them do more in games against people of their own age so that was slightly disappointing. It just wasn't to be really."

"It was a frustrating game to play in as reserve games sometimes are. I think that was probably because of the make-up of their side.

"They were young and they set their stall out, got ten men behind the ball and crowded the midfield, which they did very well to be fair.

"When that happens they tend to counter-attack you a couple of times late on, and it would have been a real blow to concede because I don't think Alan Blayney had a shot to save."

"I was disappointed in the second half when our final ball let us down after we had worked it into good areas. You have to be patient when teams play like that against you and in the final third we probably lacked a little bit of imagination.

"It was a little bit like the first team's game on Saturday when Birmingham shut up shop, but once we scored the game opened up.

"I feel if we had scored tonight, we would have gone on to win the game quite comfortably, but as it was, it was going to be frustrating. It wasn't nice to watch but you do get games like that.
